Travel Insurance

The mode of operation of many companies often involves business trips of employees. And if business trips on the territory of Ukraine are covered by the VHI agreement, for business trips abroad you need special insurance protection: a medical insurance policy when traveling abroad. There are two approaches to such policies:

1) to purchase for employees (all or a certain group) annual insurance policies with a certain “corridor” by the number of days of stay abroad (30, 60, 90, etc.) – an analogue of the “multivisa” as applied to insurance;

2) to purchase policies for each trip from time to time.

The first method will be useful for companies where business trips for the territory of Ukraine are a common and common occurrence. There are situations when during the tender for VHI, travel policies are provided by insurance companies as a bonus.

But in our opinion, this cannot be a free option, i.e. the cost of such policies is nevertheless laid in the cost of the VHI agreement. Therefore, we recommend that our customers, when forming a request for VHI, include this option only in the “surcharge” mode. This will allow to isolate the cost of such policies from the value of the contract and compare it between all bidders. And this, in turn, will make it possible to assess the feasibility of purchasing such policies from the winner IC by VHI or, possibly, place these two types of insurance in different insurance companies.

The second method is the most common on the market. From practice, we note a significant logistic component of this process. Very often medical insurance (or rather its absence) is remembered when the main package of documents for obtaining a visa has already been prepared. Despite the fact that the purchase of such a policy is not a particular problem, we recommend that our customers do not use unverified insurance companies and do not purchase policies from agents near embassies. There are frequent cases of refusals to pay insurance claims due to restrictions in the insurance conditions. And given that we are talking about medical care outside Ukraine, the amount of the bill for medical care can be very high.

For our corporate clients, we have developed a clear and coordinated process for the prompt issuance of such policies and their quick delivery to the client’s office.
